In under three months, from concept to being shipped, myself and a group of 10 students undertook creating a game demo. Our goal was to enter it into The Rookies. From pre-production, all the way to launch, we each had involvement in the creation of “Mira”. Our assigned tasks were based on each of our areas of interest and proficiency. We had regular scheduled meetings and met almost daily to asses and troubleshoot our progress.

I worked in collaboration with two other students on character concepts and design for the game. My focus was on designing the regular townspeople and the other townsfolk who had been altered by a curse.

One of my tasks was to create all of the modular rock pieces and terrain needed. Over and above my assigned assets, I took on the task of creating a variety of environmental props. (Water well, town sign, light post, etc) There were many different assets needed to create a rich and varied world for our main character to climb and explore.

Using captured in-game clips and pictures, I created the game trailer. I used Premiere-Pro to put it all together.

Programs I used to create my assets: Unreal Engine, ZBrush, Substance Painter and Designer, Maya, and World Creator.

Game Synopsis

“19-year-old Mira Otero returns home one day to find the residents of her town under a mysterious spell that has sent them into a deep slumber. With the help of a mysterious guide, she embarks on an exhilarating adventure to save her last remaining family and the entire town from the clutches of an evil hag.”

I reworked the Townspeople concept, to create contra characters “The Fallen”. They are to appear cursed and sickly.
